The Attitude of 'Altitude'Review by Jass Elliot

Every now and then, if we're lucky, something special comes wandering down the road. Such is the case with Rob DeFriese. From out of the mists of obscurity this rare talent is making himself known to the world with the release of Altitude, the most refreshing collection of songs to come along in quite some while. Each track is unique and individual, never repetitive. Each track has something to say.

Rob DeFriese is at the peak of his songwriting and performing skills on this album and it shows. Every song is carefully crafted and sung beautifully. There are no weak points, no track to skip over. Listeners are immediately drawn into the songs and hooked.

The first song, Take It Easy, is one of those good advice songs. When times get tough it's ok to take a moment, breathe in, and take it easy. True Love Waits is a soft and easy love song with a heartbreaking tenderness and soulful sincerity. The third track, Send The Ghosts Back To Heaven, is contemplative and introspective, making the listener think about the world and who we spend our time here with.

The heart of the album, Arise, is a hopeful and inspirational ballad urging the listener to get up, get out, and get on with the living of life. Altitude, the title track, wraps up the album on a fun and upbeat note, delivering the message that it's ok to reach for greater things and take that leap of faith.

Altitude is an uplifting collection, filled to the brim with positive energy and all things good. Rob DeFriese has created a masterpiece, a true work of art, enjoyable on so many levels. It is the task of songwriters to create lyrics that move people, the task of singers to bring those lyrics to life for those listening, and the task of musicians to frame the lyrics in a pleasing and relatable format. Rob DeFriese has mastered all of this.

After sitting and basking in the beauty that is this album, one is left with only one question. How have we not heard from this man until now?
